ZF releases 2024 version ATF application guide for after-sales service, emphasizing the matching of 9-speed/10 speed transmission special oil
In early 2024, the after-sales department of global transmission giant ZF released the latest "2024 Automatic Transmission Oil Application Manual and Oil Change Guide". This update focuses on the popular multi speed automatic transmissions in recent years, especially the dedicated fluid matching issue for 9-speed (9HP) and 10 speed (10HP) automatic transmissions.
ZF pointed out in the announcement that as the transmission gears increase, the internal structure becomes more precise, such as the rotary transformer and multi plate clutch in the 9-speed transmission, which are extremely sensitive to the conductivity and friction characteristics of the oil. If early Dexron or Mercon universal ATF is mistakenly added, it may cause gear shift shock or even damage to the solenoid valve. The new version of the guide lists in detail the corresponding oil models of BMW, Land Rover, Ford, Chrysler and other brands equipped with ZF 8-speed/9-speed transmission (such as ZF Lifeguard 8HP series and the latest 9HP special oil), and emphasizes that these oils have unique low viscosity characteristics to improve fuel economy, and must have sufficient anti foam characteristics to protect high-speed planetary gear sets. The after-sales manager of ZF stated that this move aims to help repair shops avoid planetary gear wear and valve body sticking caused by misuse of oil, ensuring the quality of gearbox repairs for high-end models.
