Unified lubricant releases industry's first fully synthetic engine oil specifically designed for methanol hybrid power
In May 2024, during the World Intelligent Industry Expo held in Tianjin, Uni President Lubricants officially released a unified "methanol hybrid" dedicated fully synthetic engine oil for methanol hybrid vehicles. This is considered to be the first commercial lubricant product launched in the industry specifically for the special operating conditions of methanol hybrid engines.
With Geely and other car companies vigorously promoting methanol hybrid vehicles (such as remote new energy commercial vehicles), traditional engine oils are facing challenges in dealing with the acidic substances (formic acid) and fuel dilution problems generated by methanol fuel combustion. The unified technical personnel introduced at the press conference that the new product adopts high alkali value maintenance technology and specialized antioxidants, which are specifically used to neutralize the acidic substances produced after methanol combustion and prevent engine component corrosion. At the same time, in response to the frequent start stop characteristics of methanol hybrid vehicles, the formula has strengthened the shear resistance of the oil film to avoid cold start wear. This product aims to solve the problem of oil emulsification and viscosity growth caused by unconventional emissions during the combustion process of methanol fuel, filling the gap in the after-sales market for methanol hybrid special lubricants. The unified side stated that the product has passed bench tests and is compatible with dual fuel injection systems for methanol and gasoline.
